Welcome to my Blog!

Hey, my name is Jill. I'm a wife, a mom and a photographer. I grew up in a small Lake
Michigan town where I played the drums, golfed and worked at the local
movie theater. I moved away right after high school to study business
and marketing. I didn't know what kind of business i'd have but I
wanted one!

I met my husband a few years later, moved to this crazy
little place called Lansing where I was a groupie for my hubby's band
and loved all things local music. We're huge supporters of the local band
scene and love anything ROCK. I also adore the times I get sushi
with my best girlfriends and photog confidants.

We now have an adorable 2 year old who
loves coloring, watching Disney movies and going to the park. I stay at
home with her and run this amazing photog business. I'm just an easy going gal
living a great life with the help of a loving family and incredible
friends and clients.

Biz and Brian: E-Pics

Unsure of the weather and Brian living in Maryland and only coming home at certain times we needed a location that would accommodate both outdoor and indoor location and since they are getting married at The English Inn they thought that would be a great place for their engagement pictures too. So they’ll have winter engagement pictures and summer wedding pictures-the perfect contrast! We were also SUPER lucky to have a beautiful day and do most of the shots outside!

I can’t remember what I say here to make them laugh but I love when I can do that. It always looks so fun and natural in the pictures!

Cameron: 2 Years Old

I just don’t understand where the time goes!
Little cutie pie Cameron is now 2! I’ve been taking Cameron’s pictures since he was born so to see him this little boy now is so surreal to me. But again, I love to watch them grow and see how their personalities pan out. He is definitely a funny little kid and I just love him!

Carson and Hayden: 4 Years and 18 Months

I’ve known these kids for almost the duration of their lives! I started taking Carson’s pictures when he was 1 and a few years later Hayden came along but even before that I took their mom’s, sisters’ wedding pictures and I think I have done 3 family sessions for them as well. I just love these kids and it’s always a pleasure to take their pictures!

Adventures in Sushi Making

If you know me at all you know i’m slightly obsessed with sushi. I’ve spent a small fortune at SanSu.
I started googling sushi making and thought it looked like fun to try!
Natalie is also in a stage where she LOVES to help cook so I thought it would be a fun activity for us to do together!

We have all the ingredients out and ready!

Sweet Potato is cut up and boiling:
Rice is steaming:
Natalie stirring the rice vinegar in after the rice was cooked:

Tempuring the shrimp and sweet potatoes because face it, everything is better fried:

Nori roll layed out, rice on top and sweet potatoes and avocado in the middle, time to roll!:

We only made a slight mess (still not cleaned up):

Nice presentation! We made sweet potato rolls, shrimp tempura rolls and california rolls:

All and all it was a very long process (probably took me AT LEAST an hour) and the rolls taste nothing like the ones at Sansu but they were decent. It was a fun process and Natalie loved helping. Now we’ll see if daddy will try some when he gets home from work. =)
